Its nine lawyers are led by Lin McCraw, a board-certified attorney with over thirty years of litigation experience, former President of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and a respected figure in the state’s courtrooms and legislative halls.

Partner Charlie Ginn, a fourth-generation Texas attorney and Political Affairs Chair for TTLA, complements the firm’s values-driven approach to representing those facing life-changing injuries.

Objectives & Approach Setting the Standard for What Personal Injury Law Is

It’s increasingly common in the personal injury space for national and big-city firms with seemingly limitless marketing budgets to enter into smaller markets and outspend local firms. These outside firms don’t have a physical presence in these communities, often their attorneys don’t live there, but the flood of billboards and TV commercials never say this.

McCraw Law Group is headquartered in McKinney, Texas, where Lin McCraw’s father and uncle practiced law. Another of the firm’s offices is an hour east in Sulphur Springs, where three generations of Partner Charlie Ginn’s family were plaintiff’s attorneys. With six offices and nine attorneys, the McCraw Law Group is a sizable and accomplished firm, but decidedly not “big city.” Its Texas roots and the communities they serve matter to them.

When the firm initiated an RFP to search for a new digital marketing partner, they sought an agency who understood their local values, appreciated the challenges, and had the technical know-how and chops to help overcome them. Studio 3 was honored to be selected.

McKinney: Unique By Nature

Reflecting the firm’s roots and its commitment to the communities it serves, the photo and video shoot for the new website took place at a local coffee shop the attorneys frequent, at the Cotton Mill in downtown McKinney, and at the baseball fields where Lin McCraw once worked as a teenage umpire around the time he was inspired to become an attorney.

SEO Practices: Quality > Quantity

With decades of experience in personal injury law and a long track record with digital marketing, the firm's website had strong domain authority and solid organic rankings in McKinney. But something was missing. The first image was a stock photo of courthouse pillars, the sitemap wasn’t well structured for multi-local, and even though blogs and backlinks were added monthly, results were underwhelming. The website was performing, but it needed a quality-over-quantity approach to digital marketing.

Making Communities Safer

Beyond the firm’s legal work to hold corporations accountable when they short-cut public safety for profit, McCraw Law Group also sponsors and supports schools and community associations that work to prevent accidents before they happen. It’s one example of the values that set this firm apart from billboard lawyers. On the new website, in digital ads, and in new TV commercials, these values needed to come through.

Much of the website’s high-level messaging was retained for the redesign. It had been crafted by the firm’s principals, and the site already carried a foundation of organic rankings that needed to be preserved. Stock imagery was replaced with custom visuals that reflected the firm’s people and stories. While the website spanned more than 600 pages, content was thin for several office locations. A new sitemap and S3 Multi-Location Technology were implemented to support the SEO initiative

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Website Traffic Increases 76% YoY

At the time, the McCraw Law Group website was one of the largest Studio 3 had ever redesigned in terms of page count. It reflected the quantity-over-quality approach to SEO that had become common in legal marketing. Much of the content needed to be retained to preserve SEO value, but it also needed to be streamlined for better user experience and to send clearer performance signals. To achieve this, Studio 3 software engineers developed a new migration technology, known in beta as “scrape and deploy.” It worked. Within subsequent and ongoing optimization, within one year, website traffic increased 76% year-over-year.

A Website Unique By Nature

The slogan for the city of McKinney, Texas is “Unique by Nature.” In the new brand video leading the McCraw Law Group website, it appears on the scoreboard at the Little League ball field. It’s an ideal that permeates the web design. Every community is unique. Every community matters.

Site Structured for Communities

For user experience and SEO performance, the new sitemap for mccrawlawgroup.com consolidated eighty-five (85) pages and added seventy-seven (77) more. Guided by S3 Multi-Location Technology, the new URL structure established the foundation for the SEO campaign and future expansion.

Reaching Across North Texas

Since launch, additional content has been added to support the firm’s newer offices in Amarillo and Sulphur Springs. For the merger with Hunter & Kalinke, a legacy PI firm in Amarillo, Studio 3 produced TV commercials announcing the joint forces.

A Partner, not a Vendor

When Studio 3 began working with McCraw Law Group, the firm was moving into new offices in McKinney and opening a new location in Amarillo. Aligned with its mission of safer communities, Charlie Ginn was stepping into his role as TTLA’s VP for Political Affairs to protect constitutional rights across the state. Just as the firm serves its clients, Studio 3 is proud to serve McCraw Law Group.
